FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANT APPLICATION:

We are seeking a passionate, caring, and hard-working Medical Receptionist / Office assistant (reception and/or checkout) to join our Brooklyn location in a full-time capacity.
Position Summary:
The Receptionist is responsible for supporting our dermatology practice operations with a variety of operational duties. The Receptionist ensures that patients receive the highest level of care, our office is run professionally and efficiently, and that the medical provider they me be assisting is informed and prepared before, during, and after a patient’s visit.
Essential Responsibilities:
Staffing check-in desk, patient reception/waiting room area, and patient check out
Answering patient phone calls, email, text messages and other forms of communication professionally and efficiently
Assisting in scheduling patient appointments, fulfilling mail orders, or answering general questions regarding the practice, its providers, and available services
Ensuring that patient's are informed about our practice prior to, during, and after their visit
Running insurance eligibility checks and inputing patient date into our Practice Management system
Discussing offered services and treatments with patients to help educate and inform on treatment options
Assisting with medication authorizations, and other duties as assigned
Assisting in stocking and maintaining stock of skin care products
Assisting in stocking supplies in exam and treatment rooms
Other duties as assigned by Office Managers and Provider Team
Additional Medical Assistant Responsibilities (Preferred, Not Required, Infrequent):
Assisting providers in exam rooms during patient visits
Preparing biopsies and other medical laboratory tests for pick up and testing
Electronically sending prescriptions, at the medical provider's direction, to pharmacy for patients and as directed by providers
Drawing blood; Phlebotomy certification a plus but not required (we are always willing to train on the job)
Other duties as assigned by Office Managers and Provider Team
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
Previous training or experience as a medical receptionist, assistant and/or other relevant medical or patient care experience
Experience with Practice Management and/or Electronic Medical Records software and/or solid computer background and skills
Strong verbal and written English skills; bilingual with Spanish is a plus
Ability to work flexible hours including 7am start time and 6pm close times
Ability to work independently, or as a team
Must pass a ten (10) year background check
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
Bilingual – English/Spanish
Strong Customer Service skills

Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice (infrequently)
Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
Equipment Use:
Computer and other office equipment
Medical tools and instruments, including sharp objects
Work Environment:
Fast-paced, high-volume medical office environment
Physical Effort:
Generally, not required, or up to 15 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds infrequently (assisting moving boxes of skin care products)
