We are looking for a highly motivated and adaptable Founding Software Engineer to take the helm of our technology platform. As the first engineering hire, you’ll take ownership of an existing product that has been developed by an external agency and will lead all future development efforts. This role offers the opportunity to grow into the VP of Technology, where you will lead and manage a team of engineers as we continue hiring into the future.

Your job is to rip off the training wheels, own the codebase end-to-end, and push it forward fast. Core focus is full-stack web & mobile; if you can also wire up data pipelines or ship AI features, even better.

What you’ll do

Take full technical ownership of our existing React/Next.js + Spring Boot platform and ship weekly improvements.

Design the architecture that lets us scale from single-tenant MVP to multi-tenant SaaS.

Stand up CI/CD, monitoring, and dev-ops on AWS (Aurora, DynamoDB, EC2, VPC, CloudWatch).

Prototype and, when valuable, productionize AI features (LLM-powered matching, smart screening, etc.).

Hire and mentor the next wave of engineers as we raise and grow.

Must-haves

3+ years building and shipping full-stack products (React/Next.js front, Java/Spring back, Redis for speed).

Comfortable refactoring someone else’s code and making it your own.

Production experience with AWS and both SQL + NoSQL databases.

Startup bias: you move fast with imperfect info, hate bureaucracy, and own outcomes.

Clear communicator who can work directly with founders, design, and ops.

Nice-to-haves

Hands-on with LLMs, vector DBs, or ML pipelines—enough to turn a prototype into a feature.

Previous experience inheriting a codebase from an agency.

Background in HR, staffing, payroll, or marketplace products.

Early-stage leadership or team-lead chops.
