Overview:
The Technical Designer is the liaison with Design, Product Development and Production ensuring Tech Pack adhered to product specification and silhouette. With a focus to prefect fit, build a block library and graded measurement chart.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with designers to understand the design concept and vision of our Brands Wrangler and Lee, to develop specs as well as influence changes to ensure the garment construction and fit.
Manage existing fit specs and establish new fits, block graded measurement chart for development for new fits and or improve fit of garment
Records all tech owned garment specifications within development tech pack / production tech packs maintaining spec history keeping track of fit comments.
Development block spec library along with pattern.
Competitor comparisons for reference and to keep updated with fit
Effectively communicate fit comments to overseas vendors and / or factory partners providing detailed written instructions, photos and other relevant documents.
Ensure overall customer fit consistency is maintained and provides fit approval for fit samples and pre-production samples
Schedule models and conduct fit sessions to evaluate for fit, construction and workmanship recording all comments ensuring plan of action
Manage tracking of packages sent to factories with fit samples
Maintain all seasonal samples in organized format appropriately archives as needed
Spacing of fit samples / pre-production samples / market sample along with notation of measurement
Creating comparison charts and measurement charts for research purpose
Requirements:
Associate’s degree in fashion, technical design, or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree is preferable.
3+ years’ experience for junior positions or 5+ years’ experience for senior roles.
Practical experience with software like PLM, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD.
Knowledge and experience with patternmaking is a plus
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
