The Technical Designer plays a pivotal role in the operational and entertainment costume production process. This role is responsible for ensuring that multiple vendors are meeting garment standards and that the information given to vendors is accurate. The Technical Designer attends garment reviews and captures action items to relay to the vendor alongside our Buyers to ensure the best possible product is produced.

This is a full-time position.
What You Will Do
Lead garment review sessions. Collaborates with designers and buyers to translate fit and aesthetic details.
Provide guidance to a group of pattern makers to ensure consistency of process and product.
Provide technical direction, in collaboration with peer teams, leader and vendor on matters pertaining to specs, pattern, construction methods and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall quality of the garment.
Maintain fit consistency for product. Ensure standard grade rules are applied to each garment.
Oversee tech packs from Development to PP of assigned departments and additional product classifications as directed.
Anticipate and resolves any problems with the fit process. Partners with vendors in the resolution of problems as necessary.
Attend weekly cross functional team meetings raising up any issues that pertain to vendor, quality, and/or timeline concerns.
Work closely with leaders to enhance and evolve processes and procedures, as business evolves, while driving to elevate the quality of the product.
Partner with vendors in the resolution of problems as necessary to maintain standards and timelines.
Required Qualifications & Skills
3+ years experience in patternmaking and apparel production
Experience developing technical packs that will represent the product to vendors
Experience working closely with vendors/manufacturers to ensure best product outcome
Experience with Adobe Create Suite, Product Lifecycle Management software, and Gerber/Lectra software products
Experience identifying fit, balance, pattern, fabrics and how those attributes contribute to an overall aesthetic and function of a garment
Experience managing timelines
Experience in problem-solving and conflict resolution
Experience negotiating and influencing
Experience working in a team environment where collaboration is key
Experience communicating (verbal and written) with all levels of partners
Ability to drive between work locations in a given day
Ability to work around all types of fabrics, fibers, and synthetic furs
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, nights, and holidays
Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time and internationally up to 5%
Preferred Qualifications
Valid US passport
Experience working in the entertainment industry
Leadership experience
Experience using Yunique, SmartSheet, Primavera, CLO, and/or CAD/CAM
Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements
Project management experience
Education
Advanced degree in an apparel related field is required
