Lead Optical Engineer Microscopy

We’re hiring an optical engineer to design, build, and help commercialize novel fluorescence microscopes. As our first full-time engineer, you will have a high degree of ownership and influence over product design and direction.

In this role you will:

Turn our prototypes into products— leading product design, testing, and manufacturing of multiple microscopes

Rapidly iterate on the next generation of our tech

Partner with the CEO on commercialization — visiting labs, companies, and conferences to demo our device, work closely with early customers, and learn how it will push the frontier of biology research

Help develop and commercialize further applications of our tech

Key qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, optical engineering, physics, or equivalent experience

5+ years of industry experience

You’ve built and shipped a commercial optical device, ideally a microscope but not required

Expertise in opto-mechanical tolerancing

Proficiency with Python or MATLAB for instrument control and data analysis and with CAD software (preferably SolidWorks or similar)

Familiarity with DFM

Preferred qualifications

Experience working with biological systems

Salary/Pay Range

$150,000-$200,000 annual salary, equity, and benefits
