The Industrial Power Generation Salesman is responsible for driving sales of industrial power generation systems, with a focus on generators from leading brands such as Generac, CAT, Cummins, Kohler, and similar manufacturers. The role involves understanding customer needs, offering tailored solutions, and building strong relationships with clients across various industries. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of industrial generators and a proven track record in technical sales.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development:
Identify and pursue new sales opportunities for industrial power generation systems, focusing on generators from brands such as Generac, CAT, Cummins, Kohler, and others.
Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects through networking, cold calling, referrals, and industry events.
Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate generator solutions to meet their power needs.
Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations, proposals, and contracts tailored to customer specifications.
Customer Relationship Management:
Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers in target industries, including construction, manufacturing, healthcare, data centers, and more.
Provide exceptional customer service, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the sales process and after the sale is completed.
Conduct regular follow-ups with customers to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for additional sales or upgrades.
Market Analysis & Strategy:
Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify new sales opportunities and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute targeted sales campaigns and promotional activities.
Stay informed about industry developments, product innovations, and advancements in generator technology.
Technical Expertise:
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of industrial power generation systems, particularly generators from Generac, CAT, Cummins, Kohler, and similar brands.
Understand the technical specifications, features, and benefits of various generator models and be able to explain these to customers.
Work closely with the technical team to ensure accurate product selection and configuration for customer applications.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and transaction details in the company’s CRM system.
Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and activity summaries for management review.
Ensure all sales documentation, including proposals, contracts, and purchase orders, is complete and compliant with company policies.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial sales, preferably in the power generation industry.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of industrial generators, especially those from Generac, CAT, Cummins, Kohler, and similar manufacturers.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and close deals.
Ability to understand complex technical information and translate it into customer-friendly language.
Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools.
Licenses & Certifications:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Sales certifications or training in industrial equipment sales are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel frequently to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events.
Comfortable working in industrial environments where generators and other heavy equipment are in use.
