General Summary:
This position works under the direction of the Unit Director. Monitors and supervises functions of assigned team members. Assumes leadership role in management areas of the treatment team. Ensures care and supervision of patients on a 24-hour basis, meeting safety and health needs of patients and creating and maintaining a therapeutic environment. Provides a positive role model to patients and staff. Functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. Responsible for the overall monitoring of the house/school systems. This is a safety sensitive position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Selects, orients, schedules, supervises, evaluates and terminates assigned team members to ensure that patients are provided a safe, secure and positive environment where patients physical and socio-emotional needs are met.
Ensure implementation and documentation of all supervised programs (safety checks, financial, census, recreation, nutrition, emergency drills, etc.)
Plans and coordinates with other Unit Managers and/or school staff regarding staff coverage, training, transportation, medical needs, and consistency in supervision.
Trains team in areas such as CPR, First Aid, CPI, etc. as needed. Ensures proper appropriate documentation of such is provided/entered for each participant in a timely manner.
Ensures the coordination and documentation of all information regarding patient behavior, level of functions, emotional status, and current team member interventions.
Attends, supports, and participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings, Unit Manager meetings, Executive/Manager meetings and training as assigned.
During shift monitors patient to staff ratio to ensure proper coverage
Completes debriefings as needed.
EnsuresTrauma Informed Care (TIC) is used with all team member interactions
Additional duties as assigned by Unit Director Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong written and verbal skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, licensed associates and the general public
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Basic understanding of calculation of figures
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred. One year experience with adolescent treatment with excellent performance record, demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to maintain professionalism, and a working knowledge of emotionally disturbed adolescents required. Must become CPI and CPR/First Aid instructor within 6 months of assuming the position or as required classes are available in the area. Must possess good driving skills and a valid Arkansas driver's license and be eligible for agency insurance. Must be 21 years of age or older.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Team members are required to sit, stand, talk, hear, see, walk and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to contain and restrain patients. Must maintain a current tuberculosis skin test. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
