The Gahanna YMCA is seeking a dynamic and people-centered Assistant Wellness Director to join our leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for a wellness professional who is passionate not only about fitness and healthy living, but also about building and developing strong teams.

In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping member experiences by designing, implementing, and managing wellness programs that promote community health, engagement, and belonging. You will also apply your interest in people leadership, training, and staff development by helping with recruiting, mentoring, and supporting a team of wellness staff and volunteers.

The Assistant Wellness Director helps drive operational excellence by ensuring program quality, safety, and financial sustainability. This role is ideal for candidates who want to combine their wellness expertise with leadership and community impact, growing their career in a mission-driven organization that values impact.

Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.

Creates and schedules assigned programs and classes within YMCA Community Centers. Ensures that programs are meeting the needs of the community and are financially viable for the organization.

Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

Compiles and reports out on program statistics, as required. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of various assigned programs and makes adjustments as necessary.

Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Assists with the reviewing and evaluation of staff performance in their designated area. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

Conducts assigned trainings while also ensuring that other staff are trained and onboarded properly for their roles.

Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

Develops and monitors program budgets to meet fiscal objectives. Maintains inventory and recommends purchases, as needed.

Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.

Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.

Collaborates with YMCA leadership to ensure the safe and responsible operation of the Y including rotating responsibilities for overall facility supervision & program coverage and actively participates in branch fundraising efforts, special events, meetings and training sessions. Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma and at least two years of post-high school coursework in a Health Sciences field; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Current NCCA- Accredited Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor certification

ACE Health Coach certification preferred

Passionate belief in the Y's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.

Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.

Must keep certifications current throughout employment.
