Senior Reporting Manager

Purpose of the Role
We’re seeking a highly capable 12 Months Fixed- Term Senior Reporting Manager to lead financial reporting and control processes across the UK and Ireland. This role is key to delivering accurate and compliant internal and external reporting, managing a talented finance team, and working cross-functionally with both internal teams and Mars stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
Deliver end-to-end reporting processes, including internal reports, statutory accounts, and regulatory returns.
Lead month-end and period-end Mars group reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Manage annual statutory audit processes, ensuring clean audit opinions and timely filings.
Oversee Mars divisional consolidation and intercompany reconciliations.
Collaborate with tax advisors for timely and compliant VAT and corporate tax submissions; identify tax planning opportunities.
Own company secretarial compliance across all UK and Ireland legal entities.
Maintain high-quality balance sheet reconciliations; lead quarterly Balance Sheet Reviews with Mars.
Produce and review cash and working capital forecasts; oversee working capital model accuracy.
Support technical accounting discussions with Mars and manage integration of acquired entities.
Drive key transformation projects to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Controls & Governance
Ensure robust financial controls are in place and risks of misstatement are minimized.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement in financial control and reporting.
Lead on remediation of control gaps within Mars’ Internal Controls Excellence framework.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in controls and coordinate with internal auditors.
Oversee internal audits and ensure finance team supports audit objectives fully.
Person Specification
Experience (Essential)
Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with 5+ years post-qualification experience.
Proven experience in a senior finance or reporting role within a fast-paced, multi-site organisation.
Demonstrated success in team leadership and mentoring.
Experience implementing financial controls and driving efficiency improvements.
Track record of delivering high-quality financial reporting to tight deadlines.
(Desirable)
Experience in a veterinary, medical, or specialist retail environment.
Previous exposure to reporting into a global group structure.
Knowledge & Qualifications
Strong technical accounting knowledge (essential).
Understanding of accounting standards; US GAAP knowledge (desirable).
Skills & Abilities
Excellent communication skills—able to convey complex financial matters to non-financial stakeholders.
Commercially astute with strong analytical and IT skills.
Capable of managing multiple priorities and balancing operational detail with strategic oversight.
Collaborative, resilient, and adaptable in leading change.
