C Tech, a Repligen company, develops advanced UV/Vis Spectrophotometric instruments utilizing unique Variable Pathlength Technologies (VPT) for Pharm/Bio industries.

The R&D ME intern will have the unique experience of interacting directly with senior engineers working on projects in various new product development stages. The intern will assist in evaluating and engineering various automation modules or products. The intern will also be a contributor in our cross-function team project meetings to support development and completion of projects. They may work with a variety of tools, including CAD, FEA, and our Test Labs to develop new product concepts

Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, work closely with senior engineers developing and testing mechanical components or systems:

Design opto-, electro-, and mechanical components and sub-assemblies

Prepare engineering drawings to be quoted and manufactured

Perform system analysis to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints

Utilize proper tools to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results

Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability

Design and execute test plan, collect and analyze data, and present test results

Develop test fixtures and perform tests to prove design functionality, performance and reliability

Prepare documentation including circuit board schematics, assembly instruction, inspection criteria, and specifications

Qualifications

Actively enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering.CAD or analysis (FEA) tools exposure, and/or experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, structures and mechanisms

Basic knowledge of machine design, thermal and flow analysis, creating engineering drawings, and tolerancing.

Ability to generate free body diagrams, determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams

Hands on experience with prototyping and design execution.

Ability to learn new skills rapidly with high motivation.

Passion for troubleshooting and developing new designs.

Strong analytical skills.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
