Job Description

We are seeking a part-time Admissions and Testing Assistant, who will support the admissions and enrollment process for new and returning students at the Passaic Academic Center. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting prospective students, providing guidance throughout the admissions process, proctoring placement and certification exams, inputting and maintaining accurate test scores, and offering support with FAFSA completion. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment and ensuring a smooth entry process for students pursuing healthcare programs.

This is a part-time, hourly position.

Example of Duties:

Assist students with completing financial aid applications, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Assist students with application and student portal

Administer and proctor a variety of standardized and academic examinations, ensuring adherence to testing protocols and accommodations.

Verify student identity and monitor testing environments to maintain academic integrity.

Provide clear instructions to students before, during, and after exams.

Address technical issues or disruptions promptly and professionally.

Record and report irregularities, incidents, or concerns during test sessions.

Maintain accurate records of exam attendance, completion, and results distribution.

Assist in the scheduling of placements and FAFSA workshop in the College Event Calendar.

Uphold FERPA regulations and testing confidentiality standards at all times.

Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum of one year of experience in a financial aid office or student services setting, preferably in higher education.

Must be able to work one evening per week and occasionally Saturdays.

Prior experience with exam proctoring or administrative support in an educational environment is highly desirable.

Proficiency with student information systems (e.g., Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft) and Microsoft Office applications.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, as needed.

Working Conditions:

Office and testing center environments.

Frequent interaction with students, faculty, and staff.

Occasional lifting of materials or supplies (up to 25 lbs).

Use of computer equipment and standard office technology.

The completion of a background check will be a required for the selected candidate.

Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay range for this position is $18-$20.
