Primary Objectives / Responsibilities

Technical Competency

Ensures team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.

Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.

Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.

Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence.

Supports checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.

Technical supervision of project designated designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duty.

Preparation /checking of Specifications, data sheets.

Performance of bid evaluation and vendor document review and approval

Design plumbing Fire Fighting services and preparation of electromechanical drawings

Prepare detailed design in accordance with NFPA, Kharamaa and QCDD requirements.

Prepare Fire Protection, Drainage and Water Supply Detailed Design for the buildings of a project.

Project Execution

Knows the project and discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.

Implements innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence.

Supports Lead Engineer in monitoring quality activities, drives and participates in squad checking, recommends improvements, and takes action where required.

Assist Project Team in project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules

Manage discipline design and any design changes within budget and schedule.

Prepare and participate in weekly meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.

Review and approve all related technical documents and coordinate with the Lead Engineer.

Execute verification, studies and detail design following best engineering practices and optimization in term of cost, construction simplicity, operability and maintainability, HSSE.

Preparation of the design of fire protection and plumbing systems for all site buildings including coordination with other trades, equipment selection, sizing, preparation of specifications, Data Sheets, MTOs and other technical design documents.

Review and close out all RFI, Material Submittal and Calculations

Achieve Design Approval from Qatar Civil Defense Department (QCDD).

Project Deliverables

Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares engineering studies, analyses, calculations.

Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, establishes pros/cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc.

Creates final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursues customer approval.

Reviews documentation to assist others and reviews/authorizes work done by direct reports.

Evaluate new technology advancements against existing design standards and revise where applicable.

Identify and review new technology development which could be applicable in providing more cost effective facilities.

Perform discipline specific engineering services such as:

Identify and report changes to project scope;

Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions;

Assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports;

Provide assistance during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.

Responsible for the delivery of MEP projects across Qatar and some international projects. Projects range from Industrial, Commercial and Residential

Update the List of Drawings for the Rejected and Resubmitted Application for Life Safety, Fire Fighting, Fire Alarm and HVAC

Procurement Support

Incorporates information from multiple sources into equipment/material specifications, data sheets, testing requirements, and material requisitions.

Reviews similar documentation to assist others and reviews/authorizes work done by direct reports.

Site Support

Seeks input from knowledgeable sources, participates in constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews, and ensures that requirements are incorporated into engineering/design.

Works with site personnel to resolve issues.

Create plans or documents that supports construction, testing, commissioning, operations, maintenance, or decommissioning.

Review and approve projects modifications as-built documents.

Leads on-site support for construction, commissioning, or turn over.

Participate in the site inspection for QCDD acceptance

Participate in workshops held on site with PMC related to the commented drawings

Knowledge / Experience / Competencies Required

Job Specific Knowledge:

Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to HSE management and its associated requirements in a project environment

Specialized expertise of the regulations, codes and standards and a good understanding of practices applicable to engineering design for utilities & infrastructure industry projects.

Specialized expertise of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.

In-depth knowledge of discipline design/engineering with wide experience in multi-discipline areas.

Well versed in Plumbing calculations & Fire Fighting calculations

Excellent working skill in AUTOCAD application and experience in preparation of shop drawings of Plumbing, Drainage and Fire-fighting services.

Prepare Drainage and Water Supply Calculation (Pipe, Pump and Tank Sizing).

Industry Specific Experience:

Experience in the infrastructure industry with in the Qatar MEP industry

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university

MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.

Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage
