About the Role:

The Jr. Controls Engineer at Herco LLC will play a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of control systems for our manufacturing processes. This position is essential for ensuring that our machinery operates efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall productivity of our operations. The engineer will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and optimize existing systems while also participating in new project initiatives. A successful candidate will be responsible for documenting processes and providing technical support to production staff. Ultimately, this role aims to enhance the reliability and performance of our manufacturing systems, driving continuous improvement within the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.

Familiarity with PLC programming and control system design principles.

Basic understanding of electrical circuits and control theory.

Prior experience with re/building circuits on circuit board.

Preferred Qualifications:

Internship or co-op experience in engineering / manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of any of the following HMI, Siemens, Allen Bradley / Rockwell, Ladder Logic, Eplan, Codesys

Experience with CAD software (Fusion 360) for control system design.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the design and programming of control systems for manufacturing equipment.

Conduct testing and validation of control systems to ensure compliance with specifications.

Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve control system issues.

Document control system designs, modifications, and maintenance procedures.

Support production teams by providing technical assistance and training on control systems.

Skills:

The required skills for this position include a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles, which will be applied daily in the design and troubleshooting of control systems. Proficiency in programming is essential, as the engineer will be responsible for writing and modifying code to optimize machine performance. Strong analytical skills will be utilized to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, effective communication skills are necessary for collaborating with team members and providing support to production staff. Preferred skills, such as experience with HMI, will enhance the engineer's ability to contribute to complex projects and improve overall system integration.
