Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician to support our engineering team with precision optical measurements, mechanical testing, data collection, and prototyping tasks. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience using advanced measurement tools such as SmartScope and Instron testing equipment, demonstrate proficiency in fixture design and assembly, and have practical knowledge of 3D printing technologies. Experience with CAD software, specifically Creo, is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain SmartScope systems for precise optical measurements, inspections, and validation tasks.
Conduct mechanical tests using Instron equipment, including tensile, compression, and durability tests, ensuring accuracy and repeatability of results.
Collect, analyze, and clearly document testing data, and assist in the preparation of detailed test reports.
Design, fabricate, and assemble custom fixtures to support engineering experiments, prototyping, and manufacturing processes.
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot 3D printers; prepare 3D models for printing, manage material inventory, and ensure print quality.
Support engineering team through CAD modeling and modification tasks using Creo, assisting in the preparation and maintenance of technical drawings and documentation.
Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives, suggesting practical improvements for enhanced product development and testing.
Maintain laboratory equipment, manage inventory of tools and materials, and adhere to safety and quality guidelines.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or equivalent technical certification in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician, with demonstrated expertise using optical measurement equipment (SmartScope) and mechanical testing equipment (Instron).
Proven experience in fixture creation, assembly, and practical knowledge of various manufacturing and prototyping techniques.
Hands-on experience operating and maintaining 3D printers.
Proficiency with CAD software; experience with Creo preferred.
Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accurate data collection and reporting.
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with engineers and other technical staff.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.
Preferred:
Previous experience in industries such as consumer product, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or precision manufacturing.Company Description
