Qualifications

REQUIRED PRIOR EXPERIENCE IN CHEMICAL SAMPLING•Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related discipline• 2+ years in the hazardous waste industry or related work experience

The Chemical Sampler collects and analyzes samples to ensure product quality, compliance, and consistency across various industries. Their responsibilities include collecting samples from various sources, preparing them for testing, and ensuring proper handling and documentation. They also analyze sample data, report findings, and recommend corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Sample Collection:

Collecting samples from diverse locations, such as mines, stockpiles, railroad cars, or manufacturing processes.

Ensuring samples are representative and collected according to established procedures.

Documenting sample details, including location, date, time, and relevant information.

Sample Preparation:

Reducing sample size and preparing samples for testing by using sample dividers, grinding machines, or other equipment.

Weighing, drying, or measuring samples to determine moisture content or other relevant parameters.

Packaging samples for storage or transportation to a laboratory.

Sample Analysis:

Performing basic tests to assess sample characteristics, such as color, texture, shape, or size.

Comparing samples to standards or reference materials to identify variations or anomalies.

Using laboratory equipment and techniques to analyze samples, such as spectrophotometry, chromatography, or other methods.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintaining accurate records of sample collection, preparation, and analysis.

Creating detailed reports on sample findings, including data analysis and interpretation.

Reporting any discrepancies or issues to supervisors or relevant personnel.

Other Duties:

Ensuring that sampling equipment and tools are maintained and in proper working order.

Observing safety guidelines and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Following company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Skills and Qualifications:

Attention to detail and accuracy in sample collection and analysis.

Ability to follow established procedures and protocols.

Knowledge of chemical principles and laboratory techniques.

Strong organizational skills and record-keeping abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software.

Basic knowledge of chemistry and chemical analysis techniques.
