POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable High School Computer Science Teacher to join our team at KIPP Indy Legacy High School. This educator will be responsible for delivering rigorous and engaging instruction in computer science, equipping students with the foundational skills necessary to succeed in technology-driven fields. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science education and practical IT experience, ensuring students are prepared for both academic and career pathways in technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state and national computer science standards.
Teach foundational and advanced computer science concepts, including programming, algorithms, data structures, cybersecurity, and computational thinking.
Introduce students to practical applications of technology, including coding languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
Support students in developing problem-solving and critical-thinking skills through project-based learning.
Integrate real-world IT applications into instruction, exposing students to industry-relevant skills.
Develop and implement Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways in computer science, including coursework that aligns with industry-recognized certifications.
Collaborate with industry partners to create internship, apprenticeship, or mentorship opportunities for students interested in technology careers.
Maintain and manage technology resources in the classroom, ensuring a productive learning environment.
Provide timely feedback to students to guide their learning and academic growth.
Collaborate with colleagues to align computer science instruction with school-wide academic goals.
Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff to support academic and personal success.
Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the computer science program, incorporating emerging trends in technology and education.
Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required. Master’s (preferred).
Must have or be able to obtain a Business 5-12, Computer Sci. 5-12, or Computer Ed 5-12 License.
Experience teaching computer science at the high school level (preferred).
Industry certifications (preferred).
Strong proficiency in coding languages, software development, and IT infrastructure (preferred).
Passion for preparing students for careers in technology and fostering digital literacy.
Commitment to KIPP Indy’s mission and vision (required).
Pass a criminal background check (required).
