Our flagship Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program provides paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, advanced occupational training, and comprehensive supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Doe Fund is also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent affordable and supportive housing, with more than 1,900 units in operation or pre-development. The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $73 million and a full-time staff of nearly 500, a significant portion of whom are graduates of our programs.

We are seeking a Residence Manager for The Doe Fund's newest permanent supportive housing program for homeless men and women living with HIV/AIDS. The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four-hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents' independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. Half of the residents will be referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) and the other half will be apartments for affordable to low-income households.

The Residence Manager is responsible for the supervision of the residents and the overall operation of the facility during designated shifts. S/he will work collaboratively with the Clinical team and the Program Director to ensure that resident needs are being met as well as the safety of the facility. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and an understanding of working with the HIV/AIDS populations.

The shifts that we are looking to cover are: Saturday – Sunday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm OR 9:00 pm to 9:00 am.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage any challenging situations and/or crises that may occur at the facility

Function as a liaison between the residents and the staff

Collaborate with the security staff during the tour of duty to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents

Responsible for handling any incidents that may occur at the facility and completing an Incident Report Form, as needed

Communicate noteworthy events to the Program Director and the Clinical team as well as document them in the appropriate logbook

Attend all mandatory staff meetings

Ensure all aspects of the Fire Alarm System (FAS) are working properly and are up to code with FDNY

Visually inspect and document all components of the FAS

Conduct and document quarterly fire drills

Other duties as assigned

The Ideal Candidate:

You have a High School diploma or GED, some college preferred

A Fire Safety certification is preferred (F-02 or F-80)

You have at least two years of experience working in social service, residential setting

The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, mental illness, and homelessness

You can work independently

You have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

You have excellent oral and written communication skills

You have computer skills – internet and Microsoft Office
