PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics Manager to oversee the warehouse, distribution and fish processing operations for our chilled, frozen, and ambient products in the Econofoods Distribution Centre in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods from our distribution centres to our retail stores and foodservice / wholesale customers, optimizing processes for efficiency, managing the team for optimum performance, and maintaining the integrity of our temperature-sensitive products. The candidate we are seeking has a track record of implementing lean logistics strategies and strong collaborative and management skills a well as a strong focus on inventory management and control. Customer centricity and excellent service delivery are non-negotiable requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning:

Taking your steer from the centrally developed logistics strategy, develop and implement regional logistics strategies to optimize the supply chain for chilled, frozen, and ambient products.

Collaborate with senior management to align logistics activities with overall business objectives.

Warehouse Management:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of within warehouse, ensuring efficient storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of products.

Implement best practices for inventory management and control and maintain an ongoing focus on reducing / eliminating inventory loss.

Distribution:

Coordinate the transportation and distribution of products to retail stores and customers.

Optimize delivery routes and schedules to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries.

Manage fleet maintenance and efficiency.

Ensure excellent customer experiences at every point of contact.

Quality Assurance and Safe Work Practices:

Implement and enforce quality control measures and food safety measures to maintain the integrity of chilled, frozen, and ambient products throughout the supply chain.

Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address and resolve quality issues promptly.

Create and maintain a healthy and safe work environment.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with local and regional regulations, especially those related to the transportation and storage of temperature-sensitive goods.

Stay updated on industry standards and implement best practices.

Implement all logistics processes and continuously monitor and measure compliance from all departments under your control.

Cost Management:

Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to improve operational efficiency.

Monitor and manage the logistics budget for the region.

Team Leadership:

Lead and motivate the logistics team, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the logistics team.

Collaboration:

Effectively collaborate with partners in stock planning, sales, retail, and other support functions, as well as supply partners.

Change Management:

Swiftly and effectively implement Logistics changes and innovations in a fast changing and rapid-paced environment.

Ensure all stakeholders (including staff) are informed, aligned and accountable.
