Herzing College Toronto is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Instructor to join our team for the Building Design Technician program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, practical, and informative lessons on architectural design principles, building systems, construction materials, AutoCAD, Revit, and related industry software. The Instructor will inspire students to develop the technical and creative skills needed for success in building design careers. This role requires strong industry knowledge and the ability to present complex concepts in an accessible, supportive way.
This position is remote and part-time.
Duties
Develop and deliver lesson plans that align with the Building Design Technician curriculum and student learning outcomes.
Teach key subjects including AutoCAD, Revit, building codes, construction materials and methods, architectural drafting, sustainable design, and project management basics.
Introduce students to industry standards, the Ontario Building Code, and construction documentation.
Utilize various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and maintain student engagement.
Assess student progress through assignments, projects, and evaluations, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and growth.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in building design.
Collaborate with other instructors and staff to continuously enhance the educational experience.
Requirements
Proficiency in architectural drafting, AutoCAD, Revit, and building design fundamentals.
Strong knowledge of building codes, particularly the Ontario Building Code (OBC).
Understanding of construction materials, sustainable design principles, and construction documentation.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts.
Previous teaching or instructional experience is highly desirable.
A passion for education and a commitment to student success.
Familiarity with other design software (e.g., SketchUp, 3ds Max) is an asset.

Pay: $35.00–$38.00 per hour
