The Opportunity:

We are searching for a Payroll Manager to join our growing team! This position will report to the Head of Accounting & Finance, and is based out of our headquarters in Columbus, OH. The candidate must have multi-state payroll experience and familiarity with state regulations around final pay, sick leave, and all state/local tax filings and reporting requirements. This role will also support accounting functions to include reporting and reconciling revenue and expenses for contract employee projects.

Payroll Responsibilities:

Multi-state full life-cycle payroll processing: Accurate and timely compilation, preparation, and processing of bi-weekly payrolls in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures for exempt and non-exempt team members

Provide guidance, training, and support to all team members, including new hires, on HR/Payroll system features, timecard management, paid time off requests, etc…and provide additional training to managers on timecard approvals and PTO approvals, where applicable

Collect and file required payroll period data including final hours, special payments, incentive compensation calculations and payments, retroactive adjustments, etc

Perform payroll processing quality assurance reviews prior to processing, including reviewing all batch records. Run and share period payroll reporting required for the business

Manage onboarding and offboarding processes related to payroll and benefits plans, including training on timesheet compliance for our contracted team members

Coach and advise team members on company payroll practices

Provide payroll reporting to the accounting team. Reconcile payroll discrepancies and processing errors, such as rejected ACH transactions, administrative errors and reconciliations required

Receive & process state and local agency garnishment orders. Coordinate qualified orders with the benefits vendors – child medical support and domestic relations orders

Partner on the accounting team on improving the company's payroll control environment by suggesting and implementing new audits and process controls

Quarter- and Year-end payroll processing including fringe benefits, ACA reporting, and management of W-2’s and 1094/1095 documentation, along with any corrected forms

Benefit Plan Administration Responsibilities:

Audit benefit plan carrier import and export files from the HR/Payroll system

Oversee all 401k plan funding reporting, processing, and funding files each payroll period, and all funding files are provided to our 401k plan administrator

Assist with management of the open enrollment process including team member communications, online enrollments, and annual plan premiums are reflected with accuracy in the Payroll/HR system

Coordinate monthly benefits billing invoice processing including audit, approval, and reconciliation

Coordinate wage and benefits eligibility verification for private and state disability claims, wage verifications, and other authorized 3rd parties

Assist the People Experience team with special benefits audits and new hire enrollment tasks where necessary

Accounting Responsibilities:

Manage bi-weekly and monthly payroll accounting and interface between Paylocity and QBO

Manage invoicing to clients for contract employee time and reimbursable expenses

Manage project accounting and reporting for contract employee

Reconcile payroll, benefit and expense liability accounts monthly

Reconcile company credit card statement to contractor Concur expense reports on a monthly basis

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree desired, preferably in Business, Finance or Accounting

5 + years of progressive experience in a multi-state payroll environment, preferably in a rapidly growing company

Staffing or PEO Industry experience preferred

Accounting experience highly preferred

Ability to communicate complex payroll related information to a wide audience

Understanding of laws that impact payroll, benefits compliance and HR

Advanced Skills in Microsoft Office Software Suite

Ability to work under tight deadlines and is flexible with changing priorities

Candidates located in Central Ohio are preferred
