This regionally based Assisted Living Organization is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Administrator/Executive to join and LEAD an established nursing team! You will be responsible for the stability of the department, the development of nurses, the management of key nursing operations, and overall team coach to nurses, nursing assistants, and med techs. This position provides opportunity for a nurse executive to both enjoy daily interactions at the patient-care level, but also challenges a nurse leader in the strategic planning of improved and ongoing nursing operations. The nurse executive collaborates with other department heads in daily operations that affect resident care, but unlike other department heads, the Nurse Administrator is a key member of the leadership team and reports directly to the CEO.
This position is a member of the administrative, leadership group and responsible for best practices and daily operations in the care of 130 long-term care residents with dementia.
Responsibilities:
Administer nursing care to dementia/psychiatric patients in a unique care environment that focuses on appropriate mediication management and non-pharmaceutical approaches to managing symptoms related to advanced dementia.
Diagnose and establish patient treatment plans with nursing staff that reflects best practices.
Monitor and report changes in patient symptoms or behaviors to physicians and collaborate on treatment plans.
Communicate with families and surrogate decision makers regarding patient care
Educate nurses, nursing assistants and medication techs on all facets of nursing care and disease prevention.
Evaluate and complete assessments in the community for possible placement and admission to the facility as needed.
Collaborate with nurse supervisors within the nursing department on the medication management systems utilized by the organization.
Provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members
Serve on the advisory group to the CEO on policy and procedures, strategic growth, and system changes.
Lead and advance all areas of quality assurance and compliance.
Manage a nursing department budget where input is respected.
Participate in the active response to facility needs with a shared system of after-hour communications with other Administrators.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in nursing, specifically in long-term care or assisted living (at least 3 years in a senior leadership position).
Previous experience managing a facility nursing department with sufficient experience in department leadership and decision making.
Good communications skills in human resource matters with nursing personnel.
Familiarity with medical software and equipment
Ability to build rapport with patients, families, and staff members.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Interest in dementia care, psychiatric models of care, and innovative programs that reflect best practices in nursing care.
