General Laborer in Southport, NC

Job Description

Per diem: $50/day

Hotel is paid for.

$18-21/hr based on experience.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

· Perform heavy physical labor at construction sites

· Operate a variety of power/manual tools and equipment used in construction

· Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment

· Ability to perform all job duties and associated work functions in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

· A clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings

· Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught

· General knowledge of trade tools, equipment and materials used in the construction industry

· Shop math applicable to building trades

Education and Licenses

· High school diploma or equivalent or comparable work experience

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

· Travel, as required

· Work schedule, as directed by management

· Physical Demands

o Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy objects

o Climbing, balancing and working from heights as necessary

o Able to wear a or full face respirator & pass a Pulmonary function test

o Standing and walking for extended periods of time

o Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner

o Clarity of vision at varying distances, color vision and depth perception

o Gripping, twisting, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment and machinery

o General construction site hazards

o Extreme temperature/weather conditions (cold, heat)

Asbestos Abatement Worker

· Wear multiple layers of full body personal protection equipment (PPE)

· Wear a full-face air-purifying respirator (FFAPR)

· Work in extremely hot conditions

· Work in areas of low ceiling height (less than five feet)

Safety

· Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.

· Wear Personal Protective Equipment when required such as hard hat, gloves, safety vest, safety glasses, respirator and steel toed boots.

· Recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits and report unsafe conditions.
