Title: Housing Navigation Specialist
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Director of Housing Navigation
Job Summary:
To assess the needs of adults, youth
and their families to determine program recommendations and evaluate program eligibility.
Job Responsibilities:
Educate referred customers on the Rent/Mortgage Assistance Program, HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program), Community Service Block Grant (CSBG), Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP+) and other home and emergency assistance programs.
Assess customer barriers contributing to housing insecurity and develop a cooperative case plan with the family to address needs.
Interview customers to determine eligibility for public and medical assistance benefits, including SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, publicly funded child care, and other benefits and programs administered by community resources.
Maintains trauma-informed approach in customer communications and interactions.
Understands program eligibility guidelines and processes applications for HEAP and CSBG.
Advocates and empowers customers in the navigation social service and non-profit systems.
Communicates with other local regulated and non-regulated utility companies and other human services agencies.
Coordinate collaborative activities with community agencies and organizations.
Attends periodic training sessions as required to enhance Agency and program knowledge.
Provides quality customer service experience with a trauma-informed approach for the youth and family.
Prepares accurate departmental reports.
Maintains confidentiality of customer information with inside departments and outside community agencies.
Initiates referrals to other Agency programs as needed.
Program solving through data collection, fact finding and conclusion sets.
Assumes other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Standard office environment. Requires ability to operate telephone and personal computer for extended periods of time. Occasional travel sometimes Overnight.
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in social work, human services, non-profit administration or teaching preferred.
Experience in providing trauma-informed care counseling.
Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's license and/or reliable transportation.
Must comply with agency's insurance carrier standards and policy as it relates to driving record.
