Desktop Packaging Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Desktop Packaging Engineer to join our Global Delivery Services (GDS) Poland team. The ideal candidate will report to the Global Lead of Desktop Deployments, and work closely with the application packaging team, ensuring the successful deployment of software applications across various platforms. This role requires a deep understanding of desktop internals for both Windows and Mac environments, as well as expertise in modern packaging technologies and deployment solutions.
Your key responsibilities
Lead the application packaging team in the design, development, and deployment of software packages using tools such as PowerShell Application Deployment Toolkit (PSADT), MSIX, SCCM, Intune, and Munki.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure that application packaging meets business needs and compliance standards.
Develop and maintain packaging standards, templates, best practices, and documentation to ensure consistency and quality in software deployment.
Troubleshoot and resolve packaging and deployment issues, providing technical guidance and support to team members.
Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance the skills of team members in application packaging and deployment technologies.
Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in application packaging and deployment technologies; and recommend improvements to existing processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills – must be able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing.
Skills and attributes for success
Proficiency in PowerShell Studio for scripting and automation of packaging processes.
Extensive experience with MSIX packaging format and its deployment.
Strong knowledge of SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), Intune, and Munki for application deployment and management across Windows and Mac platforms.
Deep understanding of desktop internals for both Windows and Mac operating systems, and Windows 365 virtual platform.
Familiarity with software deployment methodologies and best practices.
Experience with application virtualization technologies is a plus.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Relevant certifications in application packaging or deployment technologies (e.g. Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate) are preferred.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in application packaging and SCCM/Intune deployment, with at least 2 years in a Technical Lead or supervisory role.
Proven track record of successfully managing complex packaging projects and delivering high-quality results on time.
