Based in our New York office, we are looking to expand our finishing team with an experienced Online Editor, working within a fast-paced short-form environment. As a member of the Online Finishing Team, you will be responsible for preparing locked cuts and sequences for delivery as part of the finishing post-production process.
A keen eye for detail is essential, as you’ll be working on projects across our global offices, ensuring the department’s high standards are upheld across multiple deliverables, whether for theatrical, digital, or broadcast platforms.
As a Technical Lead, you will collaborate closely with technical teams and heads of production to streamline workflow processes, troubleshooting and identifying opportunities for improvement. In addition, you will play a pivotal role in mentoring junior team members across the business, supporting their professional development while contributing to the continued growth of both the department and Intermission as a whole.
Please note, that this is an in-person, office-based role in our Manhattan office.
What you will do…
Technical Skills
Strong working knowledge of Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere & Davinci Resolve workflows.
Creating internal and external finishing materials of completed locked cuts to prepare for finishing post.
Conforming sequences, relinking low-res proxy files to native media, or cutting in replacement high-quality versions.
Preparing sequences for delivery, ensuring correct lineup, and aligning graphics, endboards, and bugs before final output.
Exporting multiple deliverable assets in various formats for different vendors, including Streamers, Broadcast, Cinema, Online Advertising and Socials.
Re-versioning deliverables and re-sizing footage at different aspect ratios for a wider variety of digital assets.
Responsible for quality control of all deliverables in the department, including conducting watch backs and implementing QC fixes as needed to ensure all outputted material aligns with the company's high standards.
Creative color grading abilities to enhance visuals and correct image imperfections.
Proficient knowledge in various frame rates, codecs, and audio formats, including stereo and 5.1 surround, paired with in-depth industry knowledge to ensure accurate exports that meet technical specifications.
Experienced with using Network Storage systems such as Editshare & NEXIS, managing media and projects to collaborate with the global team.
Collaborate with the Post-Production Engineer and third-party support to troubleshoot software and hardware issues and escalate as needed.
Providing support to the Edit Assistant team as required.
Interpersonal skills
Leadership and mentor experience, overseeing the development of junior members of the technical team, including online and edit assistants. Helping nurture the New York and wider global team, being a senior escalation point for technical queries and support.
Strong communication skills, collaborating with producers and the team to address any technical issues, while keeping everyone informed on progress to ensure deadlines are met.
Strong time management with the ability to multitask, prioritise workloads effectively, and regularly check in with the production team on project priorities.
A proactive approach to problem-solving, working closely with the Online Team, Technical Supervisor, and Heads of Production to provide workflow recommendations that streamline processes across departments.
Global Communication, ensure synergy with the New York office and all other locations and that all work processes are rolled out and replicated.
What we are looking for…
Over 4 years of experience in a fast-paced, short-form advertising environment.
Proficient in scheduling systems and project management tools.
Familiar with remote software solutions and workflows
Strong passion for film and television, with a deep interest in the advertising and entertainment industry.
Experience collaborating with global teams. Given Intermission's presence across multiple time zones, the ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, flexibility in their collaborative style, and intercultural awareness.
