The Portland Regency Hotel & Spa is looking for on-call Banquet Servers to join our team! A beautiful Historic Hotel of America located in the heart of Portland's Old Port District.
Summary: To serve food and beverage to guests during hotel functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
To check with the Banquet Captain/Banquet Manager for assigned functions.
Pick up a Banquet radio, to be worn at all times and sign out banquet keys at Front Desk.
Returns banquet keys at the end of shift.
To gather appropriate silverware, china, glassware, and linen for function
To set tables according to the menu in a consistent manner.
Prepare rooms for use; adjusting lights, sound adjustments, and temperature as needed before guests arrive.
Be in communication with the Banquet Captain/Manager regarding any special needs.
To check room signs before the group arrives to ensure correct daily reading and assignment.
To be familiar with the menu and to serve the guests in a professional manner.
To set up food on buffets in an attractive manner.
To replenish all buffet items as needed according to BEO’s quantities.
Maintain high standards of safety & cleanliness in all areas of the function rooms
Provide all group guests with a lasting experience of the hotel with intent for return business.
Maintain proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
To do assigned side work for final cleanup. Check with the Banquet Captain/Manager before leaving.
To effectively work as part of a team.
Greet all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting.
Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
To keep in constant communication with the Banquet Captain/Manager throughout the event.

Qualifications

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.
