Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Construction Superintendent with proven DSA (Division of the State Architect) experience to oversee public K-12 projects within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of DSA requirements, LAUSD construction protocols, and best practices for delivering projects on time, within budget, and with strict quality and safety standards.Key Responsibilities:
Lead all on-site construction activities to ensure project completion in accordance with DSA-approved plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets.
Serve as the primary on-site representative for LAUSD and DSA inspectors, managing all inspections, documentation, and required approvals.
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field staff to maintain schedule milestones and high-quality standards.
Manage daily reports, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and ensure compliance with DSA and LAUSD documentation requirements.
Conduct regular site meetings with project stakeholders (LAUSD representatives, architects, engineers, consultants) to report progress, address concerns, and resolve issues.
Implement and enforce strict safety protocols in accordance with OSHA, LAUSD, and project-specific requirements.
Maintain organized project records and ensure the timely closeout of all DSA-related documentation, including Verified Reports and project certification.
Proactively identify and mitigate project risks or potential delays, providing solutions in real-time to maintain project momentum.Qualifications:
Minimum 7+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction, with at least 3+ years on DSA/LAUSD projects.
Strong knowledge of DSA codes, Title 24 requirements, and LAUSD construction standards.
Experience with modernizations, new construction, seismic retrofit, and accessibility upgrades for K-12 facilities preferred.
Proficient in construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.).
Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret and enforce project drawings, specifications, and DSA compliance procedures.
OSHA 30 Certification required; LAUSD-specific certifications (such as LACC Building Program Safety Training) highly desirable.
Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.Preferred:
Experience working with CM firms or General Contractors specializing in LAUSD bond-funded projects.
Prior completion of LAUSD prequalification for construction personnel a plus.Compensation:
