Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 3+ years of experience. The engineer must be able to produce documents in Revit experience is a plus but not mandatory AutoCAD is a must.
Market sector experience in K-12 Schools, Higher Ed, Commercial, and Healthcare is desire
Experience in design of power and lighting systems for buildings. Ability to work well with others within and outside the company.
Description
A Staff role is a designer with a strong foundation of design. This person should be able to take on independent tasks for design up to full design of small projects to be reviewed by others. This person still takes direction for most tasks and works closely with the Project Manager and Lead role.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Develop, maintain, and master a knowledge of design and CAD applications
Develop and maintain an understanding of the construction process
Assist in the development of Schematic Design information, such as equipment selections, room sizes, space requirements, and assist in writing a scope narrative
Research equipment, assist in making selections, and complete equipment schedules
Research design options and document findings for the project team
Incorporate design concepts from Schematic Design into Design Development
Work to produce Construction Documents
Document existing conditions
Lay out portions of the mechanical or electrical systems for the project
Assist in the production of calculations such as energy calculations, technology systems capacities, lighting and power distribution calculations and equipment sizing
Provide drafting and documentation for projects, including implementing sketches and design concepts from others
Encourage to try solving engineering solutions with the project team using experience, judgment and education
Assist in the coordination of ceiling, wall clearances, and structural impacts with design team and other design professionals
Assist in the drafting of specialized diagrams such as plumbing isometrics or electrical risers
Assist in gathering specification sections, and providing project specific information for specifications
Select and modify details with guidance from the Project Team that will be used on projects
Assist in value engineering, by providing input on opportunities for cost reductions
Review shop drawings and coordinate with project team for further review
Assist in responding to construction Requests for Information (RFI)
Standards
Promote, use and participate in the development of design and production standards
Review drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company standards
Research non-routine code issues and coordinate with the Project Team to obtain interpretations from Code Officials
Develop an understanding of applicable codes and updates
Research and follow client design standards; maintain and update these design standards
Provide document reviews for quality control and participate in peer reviews for adherence to internal and external design standards
Communication
Communicate on project documentation within the company and help with coordination outside of the company
Participate in internal team meetings
Communicate to the Project Manager personal work load and changes in scope
Constant communication with project team on expectations of deliverables, progress and time spent
Communicate questions and opportunities for learning to the design team
Be sensitive to architectural goals and strategies until they compromise the engineering system
Administration
Complete weekly time sheet
Complete monthly expense reports
Keep information clear and organized
Maintain an awareness of scope of work and status for active projects
Marketing
Interact professionally with Owners, Architects, Contractors, and other design professionals through email communication, phone calls and meetings
Maintain positive work relationships both internally and externally
Personnel and Policies
Present yourself professionally for the work environment in both dress and conduct
Responsible as requested to complete staff performance reviews
Answer questions and coordinate daily with Project Team
Notify the Project Manager of any personnel issues and work to help resolve them
Leadership
Lead by example through attitude, work ethic and results

Work to make decisions on design aspects of a project with the Project Team
Responsible to notify the Project Manager of any major changes in project scope
Responsible to coordinate design work with other internal disciplines
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
2+ years experience
Proficient in the use of current technology, including hardware and software applications
General knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems
Staff Engineer
Bachelor of Science from an accredited technical University in mechanical or electrical engineering and the completion of the Professional Engineering License exam
Staff Designer
Bachelor of Science from an accredited technical University in mechanical or electrical engineering OR Technical or associate degree from an accredited technical institution or college in the engineering design areas of HVAC, plumbing or electricity
