Job Description

Supports production through evaluating manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement. Functions as a technical resource to production and assists with troubleshooting equipment and process related defects. Will design new equipment and modifications to existing equipment from small to large scale projects. Assists maintenance or external contractors with implementation of designs and project schedules. Responsible for supporting startup of new equipment and implementation of new production areas.

Supports designs of new equipment and modifications to existing equipment

Creates 3D models of equipment utilizing CAD software and creates engineering drawings for manufacturing.

Create detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflows.

Identifies and implements cost saving measures in production.

Supports production through implementation of process control measures.

Identifies areas in need of improvement and drives their implementation.

Troubleshooting of manufacturing processes and equipment

Supports implementation of testing measures, R&D projects, and live line trials of new methods

Documents processes and creates standard work documents, SOP, and instructions.

All other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering

3+ years’ experience preferred in a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Inventor or Solidworks.

Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities

Experience with continuous operations preferred but not required

Experience with ceramics or porcelain enamel coatings highly preferred.

Experience with metal fabrication as shear machinery, coil handling equipment and coating sheet metal.

Experience implementing process improvement/continuous improvement.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Proficiency with data driven root cause analysis.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for up to four (4) hours at a time – up to a maximum of eight (8) hours per day.

Ability to bend, twist, reach arms and torso for up to four (4) hours at a time – up to a maximum of eight (8) hours per day.

Pass a pre-employment drug and physical screening exam.
