Job Title: Engineer II, Defect Analysis
Reports to: Quality Manager

Summary:
Failure Analysis Engineer II conducts analysis of lithium-ion battery (small, medium/large Cell, ESS) and BMS (Battery Management System) related accident site and failure parts investigation, internal and external failure samples. Also, carry out reproduction experiments (cell and module level) in certain conditions. This job is responsible for identifying the clear root cause of safety issues, serving as a control tower to improve accident issues, and finally providing safe batteries to customers.
Responsibilities:
Cell/Module tear down analysis and reporting
Derive the root cause through on-site verification, investigation and ignition analysis of safety issues
Analyze structural and design safety risk of automobile & battery(Module to Cell) system
Analyze Risk and cause through buyback and issue adjacent cell analysis
Analyze the cause of battery failure through precision analysis equipment
Guide and train operators on the use of analysis equipment
Guide and train operators to perform analysis processing of products
Perform basic maintenance on analysis equipment for utilization
Conduct reproducibility experiment to verify the probable cause of field issue
Activity and library creation of clear occurrence phenomena for major singularities identified in field quality analysis and reproduction test results
Data Analysis and creative problem solving
Close communication with multi-functional teams, including Customer Service/Warranty Team
Attend meetings for abroad Suppliers, Customers and HQ requests, when issues are related to analysis output
Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:

Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
Experience:
3-6+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering role or reproducible experiment work in an automotive manufacturing environment including internship or co-op's experience
Fire related failure parts analysis experience
Failure Analysis background
