Embedded Software Engineering Manager

Position Summary
Leading a team of software engineers responsible for the development, calibration, and test of vehicle functional control system software. The Software Engineering Manager will also develop a support structure for a variety of applications, from vehicle charging and operation to communication interfaces. The Software Engineering Manager will be the go-to technical lead on everything software-related and will charter the organization's software strategy to make OEV best-in-class.
Position Responsibilities
Work with Key Suppliers to create and improve select firmware to improve product performance
Work with Field Service to address Key Customer needs and issues
Work with Sales to understand customer needs and create market-driven design solutions
Work with peers to ensure hardware and software solutions are integrated into the vehicle seamlessly, including propulsion, hydraulic, pneumatic, and cab systems etc.
Ensure projects are completed to pre-specified cost, performance, and timing
Communicate project progression via internal project management tools
Develop the technology roadmap for designated systems and hardware/software
Supervise team output, providing mentorship through regular code reviews and design crits.
Own the technical implementation of software and controls for AC and DC systems, power conversion, and customer interface systems.
Drive the architecture, design, and development of all embedded software from battery management to high-speed sensors to motor controllers
Own, develop, and test embedded software from low-level hardware drivers to real-time control and signal processing algorithms
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science from an accredited university. Graduate degree preferred.
Strong interpersonal and team coaching skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with C language and embedded software systems
Minimum of 10 years of experience with developing software & controls.
Minimum of 5 years direct management experience in a similar role.
Expertise in software configuration management and change management practices
