Job Title: CNC Programmer
FLSA Status: Exempted
Department: Manufacturing
Reports to (Title): Manager, Manufacturing Engineering
Brief Summary of Position:
Creates and maintains highly complex and exacting programs for the operation of computerized numerically controlled (CNC) machines. Translates and converts methods data to prepare programs for the multiple spindles and complex machining operations on a diversified line of work for CNC or numerically controlled machines largely through the application of established and predetermined reference data. Acts as liaison to the departments to assist in providing an uninterrupted flow of scheduled work and required materials. Train and support machine shop personnel in producing quality products and on-time delivery to our customers.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Programs complex machined parts on various mills, lathes, and other equipment.
Responsible for optimized program for accuracy and efficiency and documents established program standards.
Prepares instruction sheets for machine operators, maintains library records, and references incidental to the assignment.
Create programs, set-up sheets, and tooling diagrams/sketches for all numerically controlled equipment.
Select cutting tools and advanced fixturing based on application and modern industry practices.
Supports engineering by interpreting new product requirements and drawings to ensure manufacturability.
Support manufacturing engineering and manufacturing management and actively participate in the continual improvement process.
Maintain open communication with machine operators to enhance information flow between departments to meet expectations on quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Verify programs, setup sheets prior to being sent to the manufacturing floor.
Ensure employee safety by fostering safe work behaviors and a safe working environment.
Troubleshoot and report problems, discrepancies, anomalies in a timely manner.
Help train and support shop personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be willing to work overtime when required to meet customer demands.
Complies with MMC quality systems, including correctly completing all related documents.

5 -10 years of programming experience with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a machine shop.
Experience performing full set-ups, program edits, and holding tolerances as tight as +/- .0002"
Expert in using “Virtual Gibbs”, Feature CAM and PartMaker programming systems.
Proficient in machine shop math (trigonometry and basic math)
Must have sound knowledge of feeds, speeds, and material removal processes
Trained in GD&T.
Ability to lead, train, and troubleshoot CNC machinist.
