Accountant II

First Supply is seeking a talented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this hybrid position offers the perfect balance of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility, based out of our Madison, WI office.

In this role, you’ll be a key contributor in driving accurate and timely financial reporting, supporting compliance initiatives, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. You’ll collaborate across departments to ensure the integrity of financial data and help shape informed business decisions.

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.

Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies in complex account reconciliations.

Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.

Assist in developing budgets, forecasts, and management reports with actionable financial insights.

Maintain the general ledger and ensure data accuracy across financial systems.

Strengthen internal controls and enhance financial procedures and documentation.

Manage and reconcile financial programs such as rebates, commissions, and inventory reserves.

Collaborate with departments like Operations, Sales, and Purchasing to ensure financial accuracy.

Identify and implement process improvements to boost efficiency and reduce risk.

Mentor and support junior accounting staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

3+ Years of progressive accounting experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

Strong Analytical mindset and attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
