Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Logistics Department to include receiving, processing and reporting the status of requisitions, backorder management, managing inventories and commodities; research and cataloging; and procuring storing material, issuing material and financial management and accounting. Additional duties include but are not limited to planning, directing, controls, coordinates and evaluates logistics management functions. Oversees the logistics requirements necessary to support operations of assigned program.
Essential Responsibilities:
Supervise the staff, including ensuring staff is adequately trained; coordinates, priorities and schedules workloads to ensure timely and effective completion of work.
Monitor and evaluate staff performance.
Ensure compliance on all logistic services in accordance with federal standards and regulations; Statement of Work (SOW), company policies, procedures and directives.
Review and monitor budgets for logistics programs and departments notifying Logistics Manger of expenditures and limits.
Assists in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the overall effective logistics program to support the initiatives and directives of the customer.
Examine the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental procedures and recommend new initiatives and methodology in the logistics area based on requirements and priorities.
In absence of Logistic Manager, act as the liaison with contractors, sub-contractors and the customer for planning, implementing and coordinating logistics initiatives.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in one or more of the following: logistics services, material management, transportation, material handling, use of information systems in logistics management or equivalent training and work experience.
Strong analytical and data entry skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software with strong knowledge of databases and spreadsheets.
Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., WMS, TMS, or ERP systems)
Knowledge of logistics, supply principles, and supply chain management.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong team building and team-member skills.
Prefer working knowledge of MILSTRIP, FEDSTRIP, and GSAdvantage logistics procedures and categories.
Prefer knowledge of Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A).
Ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communications, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Must be able to access hazard operational areas which may include the wearing of PPE for periodic oversite of operational activities.
