Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DevOps Engineer 3 with a strong focus on Automation, specifically leveraging tools such as Rundeck, Ansible. We utilize of mix of Windows and Linux in an enterprise environment. This individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated workflows, configurations, and deployment pipelines to improve the efficiency and reliability of our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in a complex, high-availability environment and possess a deep understanding of system administration, automation, and orchestration. The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while ensuring timely delivery and maintaining high standards of quality and performance.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Automation & Orchestration:

Design, implement, and optimize automation workflows using Rundeck and Ansible to reduce manual intervention and enhance system reliability and performance.

Automate operational tasks and processes such as server provisioning, patch management, configuration updates, and application deployment across Linux and Windows-based environments.

Troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain automated solutions to ensure consistent and reliable service delivery.

Infrastructure Management:

Manage and administer Linux-based systems (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu) across large-scale enterprise environments.

Oversee system upgrades, configurations, and installations while ensuring minimal downtime and operational impact.

Provide ongoing monitoring and support of critical systems, identifying and resolving issues proactively.

Collaboration & Support:

Work closely with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Infrastructure, Security and Development) to integrate automation into existing workflows and pipelines.

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, helping to expand the team’s automation expertise.

Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation processes, systems configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.

Project Management & Prioritization:

Effectively handle multiple high-priority projects concurrently, ensuring all deadlines are met without compromising quality.

Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment, balancing both short-term urgent issues and long-term strategic automation goals.

Communicate project status updates and potential risks to stakeholders regularly to ensure alignment on expectations.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify areas for process improvement and introduce innovative automation solutions to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in automation and IT infrastructure.

Security & Compliance:

Ensure that all automation workflows adhere to company security policies, compliance standards, and best practices.

Implement security controls within automated processes to maintain a secure and compliant IT environment.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu, etc.) in an enterprise environment.

Extensive experience with Rundeck and Ansible for automation and orchestration of systems and processes.

Strong experience in building and maintaining automation pipelines for configuration management, deployment, and monitoring.

Experience working in an enterprise-level IT environment, managing large-scale systems with high availability and performance requirements.

Proven ability to manage multiple, high-priority projects simultaneously, demonstrating excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills.

Technical Skills:

Advanced knowledge of Linux (systems administration, networking, security, scripting).

Proven expertise in automation and configuration management tools, specifically Ansible and Rundeck.

Proficient in shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) and automation languages for task automation.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, VMWare) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues across a distributed infrastructure.

Ability to debug and resolve automation and system-related problems quickly and efficiently.

Communication & Collaboration:

Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with various teams and document automation procedures.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or similar Linux certifications.

Experience with additional orchestration and configuration management tools (Chef, Puppet, SaltStack).

Familiarity with CI/CD tools and pipelines (Github Actions, GitLab, etc.).
