Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Driver Helper assists the Truck Driver on delivery and pick up recycling routes. On a Rear Load truck or Box Truck depending on the daily needs.
PRINCIPAL RESONSIBLITIES
Assists on truck routes pickups and deliveries.
Deliver recyclables to designated recycling/drop-off facility
Loads recyclables using provided equipment.
Properly and safely operates loading equipment (pallet jacks).
Will be assisting the driver in safely maneuvering on the route, including backing up to docks, and service sites.
Loads, secures, and unloads truck and follows all safety procedures at recycling facility
Complies with all mandatory safety meetings & briefings, operational standards & policies, and maintains a valid Texas Drivers License.
Maintains route quality, safety and service standards
Maintains clean vehicle interior and exterior
Communicates vehicle mechanical problems immediately
Reports all safety and service incidents to the Supervisor immediately
MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS
Excellent communication skills and ability to deal professionally with customers, dispatchers, mechanics, and other drivers
Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations
Computer Skills: Basic use of Tablets and Applications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to climb into and out of truck several times per day using three points of contact
Must be able to sit for extended periods as well as walk for short periods
Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and squat to perform a full inspection of the underside of the truck and inspect tires for adequate inflation and potential damage
Must be able to work outside for short periods of time in all types of weather
Must be able to see and hear proficiently to operate a commercial motor vehicle in a safe manner
Must be able to work in a moderately noisy environment
Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Driver’s License required
Company supplies: Safety boots, uniforms, and all PPE
