With locations in Pittsburgh PA and Kutztown PA, McConway and Torley, LLC has been in continuous operations since 1869, the same year the first US transcontinental railroad was completed. McConway & Torley is currently searching for a Machine Operator - Foundry for our second shift. As a Machine Operator, you’ll set up and operate machines, adjust for materials used, verify dimensional requirements, and transfer materials to storage areas. This specialist works with unconventional materials, which requires specialized skills.

What you’ll do:
Learns Visual Control Boards
Learns how to load drill programs
Learn to communicate with Maintenance on KW
Learns production logs and documentation
Learns basic operation of KW controls
Learns basic operation of sand controls
Learns to manually jog KW components
Learns how to match tickets to patterns
Learns to adjust sand levels
Learns how to perform visual inspections- vents, pattern breakages, serial # and sand stickers
Places sleeves per standard work
Learns to clean patterns
Learns how-to put-on patterns properly
Learns to radio communicate with melt, work lead and supervisor
Learns how to perform against documented standard work
Learns autonomous maintenance
Engaged and motivated to meet commitments on work product
Learns and uses correct PPE based on hazard assessment
Inspect all PPE at end of each shift
Inspect all tool and equipment at the beginning of each shift
Situational safety awareness of surroundings and other personnel
Maintains a clean and orderly work area per 5S standards
Follows all corporate policies and procedures
Utilizes manufacturing’s best practice
What you’ll need:
Must be able to lift up to 75lbs
Must be able to follow a strict safety program
Must have the ability to function and communicate in a team setting
Must be attentive to detail
Must be punctual, predictable, and have regular attendance
Must be able to stand for long durations
Must be tolerant to extreme temperatures
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Must have a good attitude and be adaptable to changes
Working Conditions:
Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
Safety Activities:
Be aware of and observe all safety practices. Including but not limited to- Safety glasses, safety boots, hearing protection, etc… as required
Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.
Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned.
