Position Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor will be assisting the broader operations team with day to day shipping and receiving functions required to provide exceptional customer experience and ensure orders are shipped on time. This position will be responsible for supervising a shipping and receiving team as well as direct daily operations to meet internal and external customer needs in support of company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage shipping/receiving systems, daily operations, and performance metrics
Process inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments through company ERP, UPS, FedEx, and DHL sites.
Prepare outgoing shipments safely and securely in boxes, crates, and on pallets
Build crates, pallets, and custom over-sized cartons; operate forklifts as needed
Identify areas of needed improvement; develop and implement shipping/receiving operating procedures
Review and implement customer packaging and labeling specifications
Communicate and collaborate with customers, co-workers, and management to provide exceptional customer service and optimize processes
Schedule couriers/freight trucks and review costs for optimal budget planning
Resolve issues regarding incoming and outgoing shipments
Manage customer portals for shipping as required
Maintain inventory of department supplies
Maintaining records of all incoming and outgoing shipments.
Ensure products are stocked correctly and inventory levels are maintained.
Implement safety procedures and standards in handling of goods.
Negotiate shipping and freight rates with carriers.
Coordinate returns of merchandise and manage claims for damaged goods.
Manage and schedule the work activities of shipping and receiving team
Train shipping and receiving clerks on processes and ensuring competency
Inventory and warehouse management oversight
Qualifications/Requirements:
At least 3 years of supervisory experience in logistics, warehouse, or related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge and experience with UPS, FedEx, and DHL shipping sites
Experience working with a company ERP or operating system
International shipment management, including import/export knowledge preferred
Adept at learning new technology and new systems
Flexible and able to excel in a demanding, fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
Must have a strong attention to detail and have the ability to organize work efficiently
Positive, team-player with the ability to establish rapport with co-workers and customers
High School diploma or equivalent
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and stand on your feet for majority of shift
