PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Performs the shipping, receiving, material handling, and local delivery functions as directed. Safely handles and transports raw material, finished goods, and miscellaneous supplies- including receiving, staging, loading/unloading, and delivering product. Drives a company box truck for scheduled local deliveries and pickups while maintaining excellent safety, courtesy, and professionalism.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Safely load and unload trailers from third-party vendors and carriers in accordance with required SCT Safety Procedures and policies while consistently inspecting quality, quantity, and condition of all shipments; record activity as instructed in inventory system or by completion of paperwork.
Consistently engage in proactive safety behaviors to identify safety hazards related to performing your job duties or the job duties of others.
Load trailers accurately with regard to proper sequence, products, and weight distribution.
Responsible for safely transferring and storing raw materials, finished goods and supplies to and from the trucks to the warehouse.
Safely and efficiently transfer and stage materials to the appropriate manufacturing area to supply materials needed for production.
Safely handle and transfer products from the manufacturing area to the finished goods area.
Verify all pallets and material received including the information needed for labeling; consistently perform quality checks to identify any discrepancies with the total count of material received; resolve receiving discrepancies or notify Supervisor immediately.
Ensure pallets are stacked properly at all times; restack pallets that have fallen in the warehouse or during the transfer process.
Safely operate forklift and other material handling equipment in a consistent manner in accordance with SCT forklift training guidelines and SCT Safety Procedures.
Cross train on related departmental equipment specific to the location such as wrap machine, roll clamp truck, or corrugated sheet machine.
Perform daily forklift checklist and routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning equipment and audits, report mechanical problems, as well as maintenance or safety issues with your equipment immediately.
Maintain order in the warehouse storage areas and in accordance with proper inventory layout.
Maintain the cleanliness of your work areas, keeping them safe swept, clean and free of debris including the completion of daily, weekly, monthly housekeeping responsibilities; ensure work area is clean prior to arrival of incoming shift and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Assist with training new or existing team members in accordance with training guidelines and SCT safety procedures.
Regularly perform routine and daily housekeeping responsibilities in adherence to company safety and regulatory compliance.
Perform administrative functions in Warehouse / Production system including printing packing slips, scanning documents, Bill of Ladings (BOL) and load assignments.
Participate and actively engage in training to adopt new procedures and technology implemented to increase the efficiency and the safety of the operation.
Assist department to backfill and support other areas of shipping and warehouse department as needed.
Operate company box truck safely and professionally at all times, complying with DOT and SCT safety regulations
Deliver materials and finished goods to local customers in a timely and courteous manner, ensuing the accuracy and condition of each order
Interact respectfully with customer representatives during deliveries, representing SCT professionally
Report mechanical or safety issues with the truck or equipment to the supervisor immediately upon return
Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior, smoking in SCT vehicles is prohibited
Complete required delivery paperwork accurately and neatly, submitting it promptly to the Shipping Supervisor
Assist with loading/unloading delivery items and other warehouse duties as needed
Must pass the SCT driving test and maintain valid drivers license with a clean driving record
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum of six months experience and the ability to successfully pass the certification to operate a forklift; one or more years of directly related warehouse, shipping and forklift experience is preferred; must have basic computer skills and possess the ability to utilize software. One or more years of delivery driving experience in local metro areas (e.g., Dallas-Fort Worth) is preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
