Dockhand (Entry-Level)

Are you a team player with a passion for water activities and a desire to learn valuable skills in a dynamic environment? Bay Head Yacht Club is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Dockhands! This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the boating industry while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive and welcoming atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

Boat Handling:

Learn to safely handle various types of watercrafts, including sailboats and powerboats.

Receive training in tying proper knots, handling lines, and maneuvering boats in different weather conditions to ensure smooth docking and departure operations.

Customer Service:

Provide friendly and attentive service to yacht club members and guests.

Assist with docking and any member requests to enhance the overall experience.

Maintenance and Cleaning:

Keep docks, walkways, and surrounding areas clean and well-maintained.

Help with tasks such as washing boats, organizing equipment, and reporting maintenance issues promptly.

Safety and Security:

Enforce safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of individuals on the premises.

Monitor for potential hazards and assist with emergency situations as needed.

Teamwork and Communication:

Collaborate with other dockhands and club staff to coordinate activities and manage boat traffic efficiently.

Develop strong communication skills to relay information clearly and contribute to a positive team environment.

Requirements:

Requirements & Licenses:

Passion for boating and the marine industry.

Friendly and approachable demeanor.

Willingness to learn and try new things.

Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical requirements include but are limited to the following: standing, speaking, reaching /lifting/pushing/carrying up to 50 pounds, bending, walking, ability to swim.

Valid unrestricted Driver’s License.

NJ Safe Boating Certification.

Must obtain within 30 days of hire.
