Position Description:
Perform functions to coordinate the daily activities and workflow of the Quality Assurance Team, providing leadership, training, and supervision in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable law.
Primary Responsibilities:
Compare and evaluate quality system programs procedures to implementation and provides recommended changes where needed.
Oversee the implementation of food safety programs to ensure the safety of ingredients and finished products meet company requirements.
Assist in the commercialization of new product and processes.
Collaborate with production in the resolution of product inconsistencies.
Review QA, HACCP and SSOP records on a daily basis and initiate appropriate actions where needed.
Evaluate and implement in-process and customer specifications.
Evaluate and update pre-operational inspections, product hold status, and QA audits.
Reconcile issues with held and rejected products.
Manage elements of the Quality Management System as assigned.
Act as liaison to USDA personnel.
Supervise day to day tasks and performance of QA Team.
Participate in the investigation and resolution of unusual micro results with both the PEM program and finished product testing.
Facilitate and participate in the flavor, visual, organoleptic evaluations of products.
Has the ability to stop the line if there is an immediate risk to human/food safety or product quality.
Develop and implement training plans for new employees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:
Maintain staff by orienting and training employees on company rules, safety, and job functions.
Coach, counsel, motivate, and carry out discipline.
Resolve personnel issues in accordance with company guidelines and policies.
Enforce systems, policies, and procedures consistently and fairly.
Oversee employee participation and adherence to food safety and employee safety programs and policies.
Monitor and process employee attendance records/timecards and PTO in a timely manner.
Requirements:
3 or more years related work and/or management experience
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field a plus
Strong working knowledge of USDA regulations and quality assurance procedures
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of SPC, SSOP, and SOP
Proficient in Microsoft Office
50% of time will be spent standing/walking in cold conditions
