Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Job Description

As a Shipping and Receiving Specialist, you will be responsible for operating drum and tote filling requirements, properly selecting and rolling drums onto conveyors, and stenciling/labeling containers as per customer requirements. You will also be responsible for checking empty containers, adding dye to drums, managing drum/tote shipping, repackaging drums, and pumping drums to flush tanks. Maintaining quality control standards for customers, performing daily inspections of pipelines and valves, and executing operating and work orders are key components of this role. Additionally, you will be expected to communicate effectively with team members to accomplish tasks, solve problems as they arise, and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE). Daily housekeeping and other duties as directed will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Operate drum and tote filling requirements.

Select and roll drums onto conveyors.

Stencil/label containers per customer requirements.

Check empty containers and add dye to drums.

Manage drum/tote shipping and place full drums in proper locations.

Repackage drums and pump drums to flush tanks.

Maintain quality control according to customer requirements.

Perform daily inspections of pipelines and valves.

Perform minor maintenance activities.

Execute operating orders and associated documents.

Communicate and collaborate with team members.

Problem-solve and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Properly use PPE and perform daily housekeeping.

Complete other duties as directed.Essential Skills

Forklift operating experience.

Experience in a warehouse setting, preferably in an industrial plant environment.

Ability to multi-task and effectively communicate in English.

Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.Additional Skills & Qualifications

Possession of a TWIC card or the ability to acquire one, with company support for obtaining it.

Competency in using basic numerical calculations.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse environment inside an oil and gas terminal/plant setting. Shifts vary from 6am-6pm, 6am-4pm, 9am-9pm, or 11am-9pm, depending on volume. Overtime is typically voluntary and often occurs on Saturdays. Steel toes and a uniform provided by Cintas are required. The team consists of 60 employees and approximately 15 contractors.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of GEISMAR, Louisiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
