Job Description

Operators will be responsible for ensuring customer orders are filled and dispatched in a timely manner. This role includes general cleaning of the plant, washing hoses, cleaning large totes and drums, disposing of drums, filling liquid chemical orders, and material handling using a sit-down forklift. The primary function is handling liquid chemicals used for water treatment, with potential cross-training in mixing solid and liquid chemicals.

Responsibilities

Take direction from the shift manager on filling orders and preparing them for dispatch.

Fill totes or drums with liquid chemicals, stage them at the dock, and load trucks upon arrival.

Clean hoses used for filling totes, tidy up the warehouse, and clean drums as needed.

Use electronic pallet jack and sit-down forklift to move and stage finished totes or palletized drums.

Accurately fill out paperwork including process conditions, test results, instrument readings, and shipping documents.

Spend significant time washing out used totes, disposing of used totes, and cutting down and washing trashed drums.

Complete housekeeping tasks including cutting up drums and totes, which is a significant part of the job until backlog work is completed.Essential Skills

Experience with sit-down forklifts for at least 6 months.

Experience in a manufacturing or production environment or a labor-intensive job.

Strong customer focus and attention to detail.

Willingness and ability to work outside as needed, including in varying weather conditions.

Steel-toed shoes.

Ability to take direct feedback on work performance and processes.

Willingness to work with chemicals, following safety procedures.

Willingness to shave beard to fit into a respirator as needed.Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in chemical manufacturing.

Work Environment

This role operates on a shift basis with three shifts available: 1st shift (4am-12pm), Mid Shift (6am-2pm), and 2nd shift (12pm-8pm or sometimes until 8:30pm to finish a truck). The work environment requires wearing PPE including bump caps, safety glasses, gloves, respirators in some areas, and chemical suits which can add 10-15 degrees of heat. The warehouse is temperature controlled to an extent, but can still be warm in the summer. Main chemicals handled include phosphates, sodium hypochlorite, caustic soda, and various coagulants.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Camby, Indiana.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
