Key Responsibilities:

Participates in the software development lifecycle independently or with minimal guidance by assisting in defining design requirements, refining requirements with stakeholders, and developing/documenting technical designs/processes

Investigates a range of software problems, identifies root causes with diagnostic analysis, and codes solutions using judgment within defined policies/practices. May lead less experienced peers in coding solutions.

Writes and documents code, performs complex debugging, and leads peer code reviews and refactoring efforts under limited direction

Ensures software quality through adherence to coding and quality standards and maintaining a high-quality codebase

Contributes to and/or lead release management processes, including code deployments and validation, depending on team design/roles

Ensures applications within scope have appropriate monitoring in place and participates in the implementation of monitoring, observability, and disaster recovery solutions depending on team design/roles

Identifies and resolves security vulnerabilities with minimal guidance, leveraging existing policies/practices and ensuring solutions are compliant with secure coding policies. Performs ongoing risk analyses.

Identifies opportunities for and contributes to process and productivity improvements within the team

Participates in and/or leads cross-team and/or cross-functional efforts (e.g., with Product Support, Quality Assurance, Site Reliability Engineers, etc.) to complete project work

Conducts activities with broad application of software development and engineering principles, theories, and concepts, and applies a working knowledge of other related fields

Demonstrates technical competence within specific applications/domains and provides technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members

Provides on-call and urgent issue support as necessary

Other duties as assigned

Candidate must be based in the metropolitan area of our hub city Columbus, OH. Position will primarily allow for remote working

Minimum Job Qualifications

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience

Education

Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering or another STEM field or equivalent.

Critical Skills:

4+ years of experience with Ruby, C#, Java, Python

4+ years of experience developing web-based software systems and applications

2+ years of experience with both manual and automated testing/tools

2+ years of experience working with version control concepts

2+ years of experience working in agile practices and methodologies

Direct experience with performance monitoring and observability

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Typescript, React

Familiarity with microservice and event-driven architecture experience

Experience working in Cloud PaaS (Microsoft Azure preferred)

Experience with multi-tiered web based systems and complex data driven applications

Experience with GitHub

Experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines, tools and processes

Experience with performance monitoring and observability tools and techniques

Experience working on HIPAA compliant projects.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$106,900 - $178,100
