Job Description
OVERVIEW
Undertake the required qualitative and sensory testing of product, raw state and finished product. Complete all of the required documentation in an accurate and legible way. Work within a team environment which may include shift work and job rotation. Complete all activities required to assure that all products are manufactured to meet customer shelf life specifications and achieve superior quality and consistency.
The areas of work are as follows (this list is not extensive):
1. Conducting Customer/Sales Sampling Requests
2. Shelf-life sensory review
3. Defect identification/reporting
4. Perform product trial evaluations
5. Data entry into the SPC database (When required)
6. Data input
7. Review reporting
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
To include the following but not limited to or other duties assigned by leadership or management.
Undertake morning calibration tests and ensuring that test equipment is ready for the day’s production.
Perform the required grading of finished product against a set of customer specifications.
Scheduled Review of Retention Samples.
Enter all data into the SPC database (if applicable) / produce all review reports in a timely fashion.
Ensure that all the required documentation is completed in a timely fashion and that it is accurate and legible.
Take required dissemination actions in out-of-specification situations.
Follow and enforce Good Lab Practices (GLP’s).
Maintain adequate stock of lab and sampling supplies.
Maintain the work area in a clean, neat, orderly manner.
Conduct weekly retention rack clean up, removing all out-of-date samples.
Other duties as requested by the QC Manager / Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a fully functional sensory system (including but not limited to sight, smell, and taste) capable of accurately perceiving and interpreting sensory information relevant to research and development activities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must have forklift experience.
Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent
Prior quality or sensory experience or training is preferred. Proficiency in computer skills that include Microsoft Programs such as Outlook Email/Calendar, Word, Excel & Adobe.
Skills and Knowledge
Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions.
Ability to follow and comply with quality standards.
Ability to comprehend and comply with GMP rules and Food Safety guidelines.
Ability to work as contributing member within the team.
Ability to frequently lift/move material weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to operate a PC (keyboard/mouse).

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Moderate exposure to wet work environment.
Normal temperature ranges between -10 ree; to 38 ree;.
Lifts material/product weighing up to 30 pounds frequently (with assistance); lifts material/product weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally (with assistance).
Stands, walks, uses hands/fingers to handle or feel, uses hands/arms to reach, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, and crawls while performing functions of position.
Constant mental and visual alertness (including peripheral vision and depth perception) required to avoid serious injury to self and others and to perform quality functions of position.
Color vision may be required to perform quality function of position.
Eye, hearing, hair nets, bump hats, lab coats may be required.
