Job Title: Production Shift Manager

Department: Production/Sanitation

Shift: Afternoon 4 pm to 12 am

Salary Level: Salary

Reports To: Operation Manager

SUMMARY: The Production Shift Manager is responsible for all facets of production line operations including people management, line efficiencies, quality, safety, sanitation and GMP’s throughout the production facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Oversee the day-to-day operation of assigned shift, taking responsibility for all aspects of the production & sanitation team.

Ensure all policies are being handled consistently.

Coordinating cross shift communication with other shift managers.

Manage and coordinate manufacturing processes to assure the proper utilization of people, packaging and equipment to produce quality products and the least possible cost.

Schedule and manage personnel according to daily production schedules and union contract. Schedule and track all employee attendance issues.

Complete all necessary paperwork with signature and dates on a timely basis. Maintain and complete all payroll adjustments for assigned employees.

Must have the ability to train and assist employees in day-to-day operations. Utilizing leadership and communications skills to develop/ motivate the work force.

Utilize and track production levels using “Red Zone” to monitor progress and assign job tasks to ensure production goals are met for each shift.

All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for all facets of production line operations: including line efficiencies, quality, safety, cleanliness and GMP’s throughout the production facility.

WORK INSTRUCTIONS TO POSITION SOPs are critical to meet customer specifications and maintenance of food safety, quality and process efficiency. Operator’s manual is available on each line.

WORK SAFETY Ensures that all tasks and functions of position are performed in a safe manner at all times and that all procedures and requirements are properly followed to accomplish assigned tasks.

FOOD SAFETY/QUALITY Responsible for food safety and quality as well as reporting food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority if unable to initiate action.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE HS Diploma or equivalent, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Five years of supervisory experience preferred. Food/beverage manufacturing is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures and customer specifications. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts using calculator.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Must be able to utilize the CDC software system to gauge the effectiveness of production.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS None

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS As required to attend off-site training and meetings as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visions and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Employee subject to company rules, regulations and GMP’s.
