Position Summary
The BEST QA UAT Support Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of the software solution with Commonwealth functional and technical requirements.
This role encompasses planning, leading, and executing tests by the users community (User Acceptance Testing or UAT) to ensure our systems meet the highest standards.
The BEST QA UAT Support Lead collaborates closely with the BEST QA UAT Manager, the BEST Functioal Team and other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand end-user requirements, roles, and activities.
The QA UAT Support Lead will collaborate with the solution integrator to comprehend baseline application feature functionality, configuration modifications, and develop test plans for maximum test coverage.
The QA UAT Support Lead will manage and participate in the creation complex test scenarios & data sets, conduct workflow analysis, and maintain comprehensive test assets, including test scripts, results, and defects during the UAT phase of the Program and for other testing activities required in Phase 1 with an option of continuing this work in BEST Phase 2. Working alongside the BEST Organizational Change Management team to coordinate communication, the QA Test Manager will also support UAT activities by identifying and training up to 250 testers, having security roles applied, assigning test cases, and performing daily coordination of testing events.
Quality Assurance and Test Management:
Plan, execute, and lead testing efforts to ensure compliance with BEST PROGRAM requirements. Collaborate with subject matter experts and the end-user community to validate defined user roles. Identify complex test data needed to execute workflows and perform analysis. Create and maintain test artifacts, including test scripts, test results, and defects. Work with BEST PROGRAM SMEs and the Solution Integrator to understand application functionality.
Quality Assurance and SDLC:
Assist the BEST Program QA and Test Lead in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including executing quality assurance best practices and implementing quality controls. Perform advanced requirements evaluation for testability.
Attend to details for day-to-day UAT testing activities of ~250 testers, assignment of test cases, recording of test outcomes and coordination of tester questions/issues with business teams to respond with solutions.
Participate in Quality Phase Gate Reviews as directed by the BEST Program QA and Test Lead, such as Entry and Exit checkpoints to evaluate work products and readiness assessment for the next phase activities.
Provide guidance on Software Deliverable Life Cycle (SDLC) tool usage by leading by example. Create and adhere to quality controls such as checklists and templates.
Communicate quality deficiencies early to allow for corrective actions. Identify process improvement recommendations based on lessons learned experiences.
Prepare knowledge transfer to the Commonwealth during the program transition phase.
Methodologies:
Broad knowledge of SDLC methodologies and application of hybrid approaches. Automated Testing: Hands on experience with automated test tools. (Note: they are using TestSavvy, but experience with it is not required. https://www.cgi.com/us/en-us/solutions/testsavvy) Closely adheres to an automated testing approach for creating, executing, and maintaining automated testing scripts. Integration and Data Conversion Testing: Support the testing process to establish interface integrations and end-to-end testing. Support iterative testing of data conversion scripts and files. Review testing approaches, plans, and outcomes.
Team Management:
Report directly to the BEST Program QA and Test Lead for UAT.
Participate in building a team of Commonwealth UAT Testers, including identifying skill sets needed, conducting interviews, conducting comparative skill set analyses, and making recommendations for staff to participate in UAT.
Provide UAT team management based on test complexity, team expertise, test coverage, and evenly distributed work assignments.
Act as a gatekeeper for changes made to Commonwealth test environments.
Specific Duties Participate in the development of the BEST program UAT and other test plans.
Support the execute the Commonwealth UAT Test Plan against the configured Program solution. Ensure that the UAT test plan is thorough and effectively aligned with the configured Program solution.
Validate that all test scenarios address key functional and usability aspects, providing a clear framework for testing outcomes.
Distribute test assignments to individual team members ensuring all application areas are covered by individuals with the appropriate skill sets and expertise. Provide guidance and support to test team members throughout test execution and defect identification.
Assist in testing of interfaces, data conversion, performance, load, backup, and recovery.
Ensure test metrics are current for real-time reporting on program dashboards.
Monitor and advocate for resolutions of issues/defects in the Program Backlog.
Assist BEST Program QA and UAT Test Lead in all test activities, including maintaining requirements traceability relationships and adherence to accessibility standards.
Report on testing and defect status transparently throughout the project, highlighting blocker identification and test cycle risks to ensure informed decision-making and project alignment.
Champion and foster cross-team collaboration and testing efficiencies, including SDLC tool usage and automated testing to enhance overall project success.
Required Skills
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders is crucial.
This includes clearly articulating testing processes, facilitating discussions, and presenting findings in a way that is understandable to all parties involved.
Experience in planning and implementing testing across similar-sized projects.
Strong interpreting skills needed to validate detailed requirements.
Possess the ability to analyze and interpret detailed requirements accurately, ensuring they align with project goals.
This includes evaluating complex information, identifying gaps or inconsistencies, and making informed decisions (or recommendations?) to enhance the quality of testing outcomes.
Proficiency in all phases of testing, including unit, system integration, accessibility, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing. Knowledge of software development life cycle methodologies, including Waterfall, Iterative, and Agile development.
Experience in developing and executing test plans and cases.
Exerience reporting on testing and defect status throughout the project, at the team and sponsorship level.
Proficiency in using query languages, such as SQL.
Experience with test automation, including planning and creating automated scripts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
Preferred Skills
Experience working with testing cloud-based applications with particular emphasis on Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery modes.
Minimum Entrance Requirements Bachelors degree in computer science.
