A vacancy exists for a Nursing Services Coordinator at the Rehabilitation Unit at Life Hilton Private Hospital.
The Life Hilton Rehabilitation unit is part of an expanding network of rehabilitation units within Life Healthcare.
The post holder will report to the Nursing Manager and will be expected to manage a nursing team to deliver a quality and cost-effective rehabilitation service.
Critical Outputs Support the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to execute integrated care pathways and rehabilitation plans to deliver on the highest quality of care and achieve the desired clinical outcomes for patients.
Delivery of market leading evidenced based clinical care Professional rehabilitation plan implementation in accordance with Life Healthcare protocols and procedures.
Participate in rehabilitation planning, including weekly rehabilitation plan review, goal setting and discharge planning.
Attendance of all family meetings.
Co-ordination of family and patient educational programs.
Providing patient and family support and effective communication as needed.
Provide visible leadership by coordinating and leading Clinical and Quality Health Service delivery through the effective implementation of Life Healthcare standards, policies and work procedures including occupational health and safety legislation and professional Code of Conduct.
Promote Patient Safety, with a proactive approach to ensure a safe clinical environment for staff and patients.
Delivery of cost-effective care across all business processes within the agreed budgetary parameter Optimal and efficient resource utilization as per agreed budgetary parameters Optimal product utilization including pharmaceuticals and equipment and sundries Effective people management including staff recruitment and retention Staff development through mentoring, training and talent development.
Development of rehabilitation nursing expertise.
Drive quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure positive engagement with rehabilitation doctors, rehabilitation admissions consultants (RAC) and therapy team.
Promote and maintain sound and productive relationships with referral sources and stakeholders in the field of Rehabilitation.
Requirements Diploma/Degree in Nursing with at least 3-5 years post registration experience and proven leadership and/or people management experience within healthcare (including clinical competence in area of orthopaedics, neurology or rehabilitation) Participative and collaborative management style.
Capacity to lead, foster and develop a healthy and positive working environment which actively promotes a joint performance and value-based culture.
Previous experience in multi-disciplinary teamwork will be an advantage.
Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
Contemporaneous knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial relations, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards.
Current registration with the South African Nursing Council Post Graduate Management / Education qualification experience will be an advantage.
