BACKGROUND
African Parks is a non-profit conservation organization that takes full responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities.
We currently manage 22 national parks and protected areas in 12 countries covering over 20 million hectares in: Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Sudan. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, African Parks manages Garamba National Park and its three adjacent hunting domains, forming the Garamba Complex.
MAIN FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Aid in delivering lessons on all subjects and courses.
Coordinate first aid refresher training.
Provide new up to date first aid training.
Coordinate medium machine gun refresher training.
Coordinate and help training of new specialised platoons such as the Rhino platoons.
Improve course content where necessary and if needed.
Ensure AP standards of training are always maintained.
Improve Physical Training (PT) programs with Physical Training Instructors (PTI).
Maintain a high level of fitness within the ICCN rangers.
Create live fire ranges from individual firing to section level attacks.
Conduct and coordinate live fire ranges for small arms.
Conduct and coordinate live fire ranges for machine guns.
Act as safety on live fire rangers.
Ensure all training is carried out safely and appropriately.
Teach and refresher training with ICCN instructors on safety for the live ranges.
Provide refresher training for ICCN instructors.
Act as a permanent mentor for ICCN instructors on base in the field.
Create plans to improve Zaïre training centre (Range, Assault course, ration depot, office, accommodation, stores….).
Ensure that errors received on LAB audits for the training centre are rectified and improved for the next one.
Act as chief LAB mentor when he is on leave or on tasking. This includes deployments via air or roads, assist in coordinating sections on the ground, react to any emergency with GNP, write reports following incidents within GNP, coordinate surveillance operations within GNP via air….
Coordinate helicopter training with ICCN and the aviation department.
Deploy on live operations with LAB units, when needed.
Create new refresher training packages for ICCN Eco-Guards that must change after each cycle to maintain interest within the guards.
Create and conduct driver training and refresher training.
Aid in identifying weapon faults when training.
Identify areas of weakness with skill and drills within the ICCN when deployed on ops.
