Reliability Technician

The core responsibilities include:

Critical analysis of systems and their performance to eliminate repetitive defects and to enhance overall asset reliability.

To learn and be a key custodian of problem solving and tracking in the department you are assigned to.

To identify, investigate, motivate, and implement changes related to the safe and effective performance of the various machine centres.

To work closely with the departmental maintenance planner to ensure that equipment reliability tasks are programmed into the CMMS (checks and inspections).

To provide support to the department’s maintenance team, especially in the event of significant breakdowns.

To have an active management role during outages, assisting the maintenance team in managing the shut workload.

To maintain a level of machine expertise, ensuring that equipment/system obsolescence issues are dealt with timeously.

Complete failure analyses on all breakdowns and planned corrective maintenance.

Generates a monthly top ten failures report and action plan to rectify in O.P.P. format.

Basic RCA on problem areas and proposes Preventative or Predictive Maintenance Schedules.

Identify training needs and service providers.

Mentor apprentices or trainee technicians.

Project manage small projects related to their investigations.

Remaining in touch with technology and advise on improvements with current systems.

Performs standby duty in the plant to ensure that downtime is managed and minimised.
